There are a lot of ways to score a bracket—one point per correct selection, fibonacci (tiered scoring), doubling, and more.
There is one kink though, Eurovision isn't a head-to-head competition like sports tournaments that utilize brackets. That is why we've created our own methods for tracking scoring that utilize standard scoring... with a little bit of nuance.
The bracket has 26 spaces allocated for nations. Six nations have automatic entry to the Grand Final, and each Semifinal group advances only 10 nations. Points should be given to nations that progress from the Semifinals, but there could be inconsistencies with the final standings since the Big 5 and the host nation receive a bye in the first round of the bracket.
See our proposed scoring methods below for your bracket groups.
This is our preferred Eurovision scoring method. It considers song advancement while also increasing the points awarded per round present to reward selections that advance further in the bracket.
All points awarded for Round 1 through the Grand Final mirror the final standings of the Eurovision competition.
Fibonacci Scoring per Round:
Round 1-Advanced: 1 point per selection that advanced from Semifinals
Sweet Sixteen: 3 Points per Top-16 Finisher Selected
Elite Eight: 5 Points per Top-8 Finisher Selected
Final Four: 8 Points per Top-4 Finisher Selected
Grand Final: 13 Points per Final Participant Selected
Champion: 21 Points for Selecting Winner
Any of the 'Bye Nations' that place outside of the sweet sixteen will not be awarded any points.
This method does not weight later round selections as heavily as the fibonacci method. Instead, the round per round scoring is more evenly rewarded with each rounds value increasing by one.
